The u3a pastel group has grown from a few artists already skilled and experienced in this medium, and others who had done little or no creative art work since school days. I was one of the latter group. Over the months and years we have learnt from each other, and all have made substantial progress. We enjoy informal weekly sessions where we either work on our individual projects, or have a go at a still life composition set up by the convenor. We also set ourselves challenges which help develop new skills.

If you are new to the medium, bring along any materials you have, or simply come and see what is available and how to get hold of it, before committing to join the group.

In winter (and bad weather) we meet at the convenor’s house, so numbers are limited, but in summer we get out and about for plein air work, and then anyone is free to join us. We meet on Friday mornings from 10.00pm till 12.00pm
